Texas Basketball: 3 Longhorns offers that stood out at EYBL Dallas
Curtis Givens III, G
The guard that I was most impressed by in the games I saw at EYBL Dallas was the highly touted four-star 6-foot-3 and 180-pound Montverde Academy guard Curtis Givens III. The blue-chip point guard recruit and Memphis, TN, native was spectacular in the game I got to see him play last weekend against Team CP3 on May 14.
I also got to see some of the 20+ point performance that Givens put up on May 13 against Team Melo.
What stood out to me about Givens’ performance in the big win for Mokan Elite over Team CP3 on May 14 was his ability to command the offense. Givens was money with his facilitating and shot creation against a solid Team CP3 backcourt that features the likes of blue-chip 2024 guards Bishop Boswell and Jayden Harris.
Givens led the way for Mokan Elite’s offense against Team CP3, posting a team-high 23 points on an efficient 8-of-13 shooting from the field, 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, and 4-of-5 from the free-throw line. He also registered a game-high five assists, while turning the ball over just one time.
It seemed like every move Givens made with the ball in his hands was leading to points for Mokan. And it resulted in Mokan’s biggest win of the weekend at EYBL Dallas, beating a blue-chip-laden Team CP3 squad by nearly 20 points.
Texas offered Givens on April 24, 2023, after he had a solid showing in the first EYBL session of 2023 in Atlanta. Givens has received offers from nearly two dozen D1 schools in total including from the Kansas Jayhawks, Memphis Tigers, LSU Tigers, Villanova Wildcats, Indiana Hoosiers, and Ole Miss Rebels.
