The 13-seed Texas softball kicked off the Austin Regional with a bang on May 19. Texas and head coach Mike White dominated the Big East Tournament champion Seton Hall Pirates to the tune of a walk-off 8-0 shutout win in five innings to start off the weekend.

Behind a dominant effort on the mound from sophomore right-handed pitcher Mac Morgan, who delivered four no-hit innings on the mound for the Longhorns, Texas got off to a fast start in regionals against the Pirates.

The impressive win over Seton Hall to open up the Austin Regional moved Texas’ record on the season to 43-13-1 (11-7 Big 12). Texas will now battle the in-state rival Texas A&M Aggies to move one step closer to Super Regionals on May 20.

Texas A&M also started the Austin Regional on a positive note by reeling off a close 2-1 win in the eighth inning against the Texas State Bobcats in Game 2 on May 19. Following the one-run win over Texas State on May 19, Texas A&M boasts a record of 34-19 (12-12 SEC).
