Texas Football: 5 must-get summer official visitors for the Longhorns
Micah Hudson, WR
The highest-rated in-state wide receiver recruit in the 2024 class is the elite five-star Temple (TX) Lake Belton product, Micah Hudson. Thus, building the relationship with Hudson and his camp was an immediate priority this offseason for new wide receivers coach Chris Jackson, who is leading this recruitment for the Longhorns.
Texas looks to be locked in a battle with the Texas Tech Red Raiders heading into the summer in the race to land a commitment from Hudson. Head coach Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders are putting up a very valiant fight in this recruitment in the last six or eight months.
In fact, it looks as if Texas Tech is throwing the kitchen sink and more at this recruitment as this staff tries to get Hudson to Lubbock next year. Mike Roach of Horns247 (paid content) reported this week that Texas Tech “shouldn’t be underestimated” in this recruitment heading into the summer.
That almost seems like stating the obvious at this point given that Hudson is probably the highest priority on Tech’s board in the 2024 class.
Moreover, Texas will need to push all the right buttons when Hudson makes the official trip to Austin during the often-talked-about late June weekend. Hudson will begin his official visit to Texas on June 23, two weeks after he sees Lubbock officially.
This recruitment promises to be a wild ride that could take us all the way through the fall. It will be important for Texas to set itself up well in this recruitment during the summer. If the Longhorns get solid play out of the wideouts on the field this fall, it’s hard not to see Texas being in the driver’s seat in this recruitment when it comes to decision-time for Hudson closer to the Early Signing Period in December.
