Landon Rink, DL

The inspiration for this article was a recent interview that four-star Cy-Fair quarterback and Texas commit Trey Owens did with Jason Suchomel of Orangebloods (subscriber content). Owens told Orangebloods that he expects “some commitments” to come for the Longhorns during the first visit weekend in June.

As a side note, the first recruit mentioned on this list that could soon be on commitment watch for the Longhorns, Livingstone, is one name that Owens stated that he’s in contact with on a regular basis.

While it’s clear that Owens was talking about the 2024 recruits that he likely expects to see some commitments from for the Longhorns during the first visit weekend in June, there could be some other 2025 recruits he’s hinting at too.

An interesting candidate to watch that seemingly has found a lot of traction with the Longhorns in the last couple of years is the highly touted four-star Cy-Fair defensive lineman Landon Rink. The talented 2025 defensive lineman and teammate of Owens’ at Cypress (TX) Cy-Fair High School has frequently visited the 40 since 2021.

In fact, Rink made it to Austin for more than a half dozen unofficial visits since the start of 2022. And he’s set to make another unofficial trip to see Texas on June 3.

The 6-foot-2 and 260-pound Rink has stated in the past that Owens could influence his college decision. Combine that with the fact that he’s had so many successful trips to Austin and I think it’s clear that Rink could a candidate that is eventually on commitment watch for the Longhorns.
