There are a few former Longhorn recruits that made this list from the Strong era on the 40 that either are included in the mix due to unfortunate circumstances or found more success elsewhere.

It was the latter for the former blue-chip offensive tackle recruit out of North Mesquite High School in the DFW Metroplex Jean Delance. The 6-foot-5 and 290-pound offensive tackle was one of the highest-rated offensive line recruits that Strong’s staff signed during his three years at Texas.

The addition of a lengthy and gifted offensive tackle that looked like he could contribute early out of high school was also much-needed at the time for the Longhorns, as the offensive line play was not very good in the mid-2010s. Delance was never able to be that guy, though, that could be a difference-maker at offensive tackle for the Longhorns.

After playing just a couple of games at Texas as a true freshman in 2016, Delance decided to transfer to Florida the following year. Delance would have to sit out the 2017 season for the Gators due to the transfer rules at the time in college football.

But Delance became a regular contributor along the offensive line for the Gators, taking well over 1,000 offensive snaps from 2019-2021. Delance is currently trying to make his way onto an NFL roster, as he signed a reserve/future contract with the Green Bay Packers back in January.

He was also on the Arizona Cardinals practice squad as an undrafted rookie in 2022.
