The postseason journey will begin for Texas baseball in the NCAA Tournament later this week after it was selected for the Coral Gables Regional, which is hosted by the No. 9 Miami Hurricanes. Texas gets the two-seed in the Coral Gables Regional, which will pit it against the No. 3 Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns to open up the postseason.

Texas will face Louisiana in each team’s first game of the Coral Gables Regional on June 2, with the first pitch time to be determined.

Louisiana made it to the postseason after a solid run during the regular season in a better-than-expected showing for the Sun Belt Conference as a whole. The Cajuns come into the postseason with a record of 40-22 (18-12 Sun Belt).

The four-seed in the Coral Gables Regional is the defending America East Tournament champs Maine Black Bears. Maine will face the regional hosts Miami in each of those teams’ first game in the postseason on June 2.

Head coach David Pierce and the Longhorns head into the postseason with a record of 38-20 (15-9 Big 12) following an early exit in the Big 12 Baseball Championship last week. Texas did claim a share of the Big 12 regular season title, though, with the West Virginia Mountaineers and Oklahoma State Cowboys.

This is the third consecutive year that Pierce and the Longhorns have made it to the NCAA Tournament. Texas is also sporting a two-season streak of making it to the College World Series.
