Texas baseball and head coach David Pierce enter the Coral Gables Regional (hosted by the No. 9 Miami Hurricanes) as a two-seed, with what looks to be a pretty favorable path forward to make it to supers. Despite not hosting a regional, Texas still landed in a regional it’s capable of making it out of.

And the Vegas betting odds definitely support this theory, and a little bit more.

In fact, I would go so far as to say that Vegas sportsbooks might be too high on the Longhorns this postseason. Texas is tied for the 13th-best odds of winning the College World Series (at +3500). Ironically, Texas is tied with No. 9 Miami for the 13th-best odds to win the College World Series from Draftkings Sportsbook.

FanDuel has Texas with even better odds than Draftkings to win the College World Series. FanDuel ties Texas with Miami for the 11th-best odds to win the College World Series this year (at +3600).

Both of these sportsbooks give Texas the second-best odds of any non-regional host to win the College World Series, behind the Tennessee Volunteers.

Most of the teams that are favored to win the College World Series in both sportsbooks are from the SEC. The No. 1 Wake Forest Demon Deacons are the favorite to win in Omaha in both sportsbooks. But four of the rest of the five odds-on favorites from Draftkings are SEC teams. The same can be said for how the top five odds rounds out for FanDuel.

Moreover, it’s either Texas or the No. 11 Oklahoma State Cowboys that are given the best shot of winning the College World Series among all the teams from the Big 12 that made it to regionals. The TCU Horned Frogs are the next biggest favorite from the Big 12 to the College World Series in both sportsbooks.

Pierce and the Longhorns will open up the Coral Gable Regionals in Game 1 against the three-seed Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns on June 2. If Texas wins Game 1 against Louisiana, it will take on the winner of Game 2 between Miami and the four-seed Maine Black Bears on June 3.

Texas is also the favorite to win Game 1 of the Coral Gables Regional over the two-seed Louisiana on June 2 in the moneyline from Draftkings Sportsbook (-175). The first pitch time between Texas and Louisiana in Game 1 of the Coral Gables Regional is set for 1 p.m. CT on June 2.
