Zion Williams, DL

One of the early defensive line offers in the 2025 class for Davis and the Longhorns is the four-star 6-foot-4 and 300-pound Lufkin (TX) product Zion Williams. Texas was one of the first schools to offer Williams, which came his way on Feb. 1, 2023.

The Baylor Bears, Texas A&M Aggies, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish are a few of the Power Five schools that have offered Williams since Texas sent one his way a few months ago.

Texas got in on this recruitment at the right time, as Williams is starting to generate a lot more buzz on the recruiting trail since the start of spring. Davis and the Longhorns were also able to make a positive impression on Williams when he first visited Austin unofficially after he was offered by Texas on the second Junior Day of the offseason on March 25.

He loved getting to see campus and connecting with Davis and the rest of the Texas coaches in person during his Junior Day visit in late March.

Texas will need to get Williams to campus as much as possible during the summer and fall to keep making big moves in this recruitment. Texas A&M is also prioritizing this recruitment this offseason as Aggies DL coach Terry Price is in pretty constant communication with Williams.

All in all, I like where Texas stands in this recruitment heading into the summer. Texas is high on Williams’ list early in this recruitment and he seemingly fits well with what Davis is looking to build along the defensive line as the Longhorns are set to make the move from the Big 12 to the SEC in 2024.
