Arizona State

If the Big 12 is already looking at adding Arizona to the mix from the PAC-12 once the new media rights deal is put in place, then it would only make sense for Yormark and the administration to also consider the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Arizona and Arizona State probably makes more sense as a package deal than it does with just one of the schools by itself. Especially when you consider the value of the Arizona State football and basketball programs when each is running at peak efficiency along with the rivalry between the Sun Devils and the Wildcats, you can see why the Arizona schools would be so appealing for the Big 12 to have in the mix.

Arizona State is currently the stronger of the two football programs when compared to Arizona, even with the coaching turnover in the last year. The Sun Devils look to be on the rise with new head coach Kenny Dillingham looking to take the football program to new heights in the coming years.

Meanwhile, the Arizona State basketball program has made the NCAA Tournament in three of the last five seasons (excluding the COVID-19 year in 2020) under head coach Bobby Hurley.

Arizona State would be a good package deal with Arizona as each school makes sense for the Big 12 in terms of the proximity to the rest of the teams and the value that the rivalry brings to the table.
