Sergio De Larrea, SG*

Although he probably wouldn’t be able to make it to the states to hypothetically play at Texas until the 2024-25 season, a potentially interesting target for Terry and the Longhorns could be the 6-foot-6 shooting guard/wing, Sergio De Larrea. The 17-year-old Spanish shooting guard isn’t NBA Draft eligible at least until 2025.

And there are some outlets that project De Larrea to not go into the NBA Draft until 2027.

Nonetheless, De Larrea is the type of high-caliber two-way wing prospect that could have a positive impact on the Texas program for multiple years. De Larrea is projected by multiple draft websites, including NBA Draft Room, to be a potential future first-round pick in the NBA Draft.

De Larrea played for Valencia last season in Spain, shining as a real playmaker on offense and disruptor on the defensive end. He did a little bit of everything for Valencia in Belgrade earlier this year. He averaged around 14 points per game, five rebounds, six assists, and three steals in the Belgrade Tournament with Valencia in 2023.

And while De Larrea’s shooting numbers, especially from deep, weren’t up to snuff with Valencia in Belgrade and in league play last season, he’s got a good fundamental release that can be developed.

Moreover, I don’t know how willing De Larrea would be to come to the United States before taking his talents to the NBA to hypothetically be developed at a place like UT. If he hypothetically is open to coming to the US in the next year or so, then Texas would definitely be a spot that would make sense for him to hone in his skills on both ends.
