The schedule is very manageable outside of the Georgia game

I can’t complain much about the difficulty level for Texas’ first schedule in the SEC in 2024. Texas avoided some of the SEC’s most challenging games and environments in next season’s conference schedule.

Sark and the Longhorns won’t have to face the LSU Tigers on the road in Death Valley next year, a definite win for Texas. The Longhorns also don’t face the Alabama Crimson Tide three years in a row, and for the first time as conference foes.

Some of the other most challenging road environments in the SEC, including Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, and Georgia, will be avoided by the Longhorns in 2024. Granted, Texas does get the likes of Florida and Georgia at home at DKR next fall.

And while the Georgia game will obviously be challenging, it’s hard to ask for much more than a game this big on the Longhorns’ home turf at DKR during its first season in the SEC. Texas will get a shot to prove its worth to the entire country that it will be a legitimate player in the SEC immediately if it can top Georgia next season.

Moreover, Texas got away with a much easier SEC schedule next season than the Sooners. Texas gets one more home game than Oklahoma. And its road games are pretty manageable. You can’t complain too much about facing the Vanderbilt Commodores on the road and returning to Fayetteville and College Station to face a pair of storied rivals.

Texas also looks to have a pair of very winnable conference games at home next season, coming against the Kentucky Wildcats and Mississippi State Bulldogs.
