Expectations will be high for Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns in the SEC in 2024

The combination of Texas’ manageable schedule in the SEC with the fact that it will be Sark’s fourth year at the helm as the head coach means that the expectations will be high for him and his squad next year. Just because 2024 will be the Longhorns’ first year in the SEC doesn’t mean Texas fans will keep expectations low for Sark and his staff.

Texas fans expect Sark and his squad to be right there in the mix for a Big 12 Championship this season and put together at least an eight or nine-win season during their first year in the SEC in 2024.

Sark and the Longhorns staff have recruited at a level the past few cycles that indicate this program should be in a spot to find some immediate success in the SEC next fall. Texas also showed it can hang with one of the best teams in the SEC last season when it nearly upset head coach Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide at home at DKR.

Texas will have another chance to make a national statement if it can put Alabama on upset alert when it travels to Tuscaloosa to face the Crimson Tide in Week 2 during the 2023 season.

All in all, Sark will be expected to continue taking this program to new heights throughout the next two seasons. Texas should be able to raise its win total year-over-year again in the Big 12 this fall. Then, there looks to be more than enough talent on the roster projected to return to Texas for the 2024 season to allow the Longhorns to compete at a high level in the SEC.
