Texas Football: 4 leaked SEC opponents for the Longhorns in 2024
In just a few hours, the 2024 eight-game SEC schedule for Texas football will be announced live on SEC Network on June 14. The SEC will announce the opponents and host venues for the eight-game conference schedule for its 16 members for the 2024 season on the evening of June 14.
Before the unveiling of the 2024 SEC schedule, though, multiple games were leaked. And the Longhorns were one of the teams with the most leaks for the 2024 SEC schedule ahead of the release on June 14.
Before we dive into what we know of the Longhorns’ opponents as of the afternoon of June 14, let’s take a look at the format and key details of the SEC schedule in 2024.
The leaked SEC opponents for Texas football in 2024
First, the 2024 SEC schedule will be eight games after a president vote adopted earlier this month. The SEC will also do away with the divisional structure for the 2024 season. It is possible that the SEC will move to a nine-game conference schedule and establishes a new divisional format after 2024, though.
Each SEC team will also have to face either Texas or the Oklahoma Sooners during the 2024 season. A report from ESPN’s Chris Low on June 14 revealed that Oklahoma will face the Alabama Crimson Tide next season. It also appears that Texas won’t face the Tide after the two teams’ home-and-home series in 2022 and 2023.
Last but not least, every SEC team must face at least one Power Five foe (or Notre Dame) during the non-conference schedule in 2024.
With all these details in mind, here’s a look at the four SEC opponents leaked for the Longhorns on the 2024 schedule.
