The game that was most obviously going to stay on the conference schedule for the Longhorns upon the move to the SEC was the Red River Rivalry game against Oklahoma. Red River will continue to be played at the Cotton Bowl at the Texas State Fairgrounds in Dallas.

What is unknown about the future of the Red River Rivalry game upon Texas and Oklahoma’s move from the Big 12 to the SEC is the timing of when it will be played. Red River is traditionally played in early October in the Big 12, and I will assume that will be the case in the SEC until proven otherwise.

Georgia (home)

The most significant leak that emerged on the morning of June 14 regarding Texas’ first SEC football schedule was the report from Horns247 that it will host the reigning back-to-back National Champion Georgia Bulldogs in 2024. Georgia will make the trek to the 40 and Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium to face the Longhorns in Austin for the first time since 1958.

You don’t have to go back that far to find the last time Texas and Georgia met on the gridiron, regardless of venue. Texas topped Georgia by one score in the 2018-19 Sugar Bowl to round out the 2018 season. The Longhorns hold a 4-1 all-time record in the series against Georgia.
