Texas football fans will get to figure out what the format, venues, and opponents will be for the team’s inaugural season in the SEC in 2024 when the conference announces the schedule on June 14. Prior to the SEC schedule announcement for the 2024 conference slate on the evening of June 14, a report surfaced one of the opponents for Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian for that season.

Multiple reports (initially from Horns247 and then confirmed by Inside Texas) indicate that the Longhorns will host the defending back-to-back National Champion Georgia Bulldogs at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial in Austin during SEC play during the 2024 regular season.

The report from Horns247 on the morning of June 14 also indicates that Texas will face its longtime rivals the Arkansas Razorbacks and Texas A&M Aggies on the road in SEC play in 2024.

Last but not least, the Longhorns will play the traditional Red River Rivalry game against the Oklahoma Sooners at the usual site of the Cotton Bowl in Dallas at the Texas State Fairgrounds.

This report from Horns247 mentions four of the eight conference opponents for the Longhorns in SEC play in 2024. Since the SEC announced earlier this month that it will play an eight-game schedule upon the additions of Texas and Oklahoma to the conference in 2024.

Divisions will also be removed for 2024 as the SEC moves to 16 member teams.

The format of the SEC scheduling and divisions beyond the 2024 season is still in the works, though, to allow for future flexibility.

The last time Georgia and Texas met on the gridiron was in the Sugar Bowl to wrap up the 2018 season. Texas defeated Georgia by a score of 28-21 in the Sugar Bowl that season in a contest that featured the infamous moment of Bevo charging Uga in the pregame.

The only time that the Longhorns hosted Georgia in Austin was during the 1958 season, resulting in a 13-8 win for Texas. Texas holds the edge in its all-time record against Georgia with a mark of 4-0-1.
