Texas football and new wide receivers coach Chris Jackson are hosting a big-time visitor on the recruiting trail in Austin on June 15. Multiple reports indicate (including 247Sports and Inside Texas) that Texas is hosting the elite five-star Temple (TX) Lake Belton wide receiver priority Micah Hudson for an unofficial visit to Austin on June 15.

This will be Hudson’s second unofficial trip to Austin of the offseason so far. It will be his first return trip to Texas since the first Junior Day of the offseason on Jan. 21.

Hudson will return to the 40 for his official visit next weekend, specifically starting on June 23.

This is obviously big news for the Longhorns to get Hudson on campus just one day before he’s set to begin his official visit to Lubbock to see the Texas Tech Red Raiders on June 16. Texas and Texas Tech are considered the two frontrunners in the race to land a commitment from Hudson heading into the summer.

The more times Texas can get Hudson on campus, the better for head coach Steve Sarkisian and Jackson.

Texas Tech has a lot of confidence in this recruitment ahead of Hudson’s official visit to Lubbock this weekend. But there is still a long way to go before Hudson is expected to make a decision (likely closer to the Early Signing Period).

Hudson has started to build a really good relationship with Jackson since the spring. It sounds like Hudson got to spend some time with Jackson and see Texas go through part of the summer workout program on June 15.

Moreover, Hudson visited the Forty Acres just one day before the start of a big out-of-state official visit weekend that starts on June 16. Texas is set to host some highly touted blue-chip wide receiver recruits on official visits this weekend, such as five-star St. Louis University product Ryan Wingo and four-star Carthage product Aeryn Hampton.

Texas and Texas Tech are currently the only two schools that Hudson has official visits set for the summer. He is set to see Texas during the biggest official visit weekend of the offseason so far with other elite priority recruits such as five-star Duncanville edge rusher Colin Simmons and five-star IMG Academy running back Jerrick Gibson.
