The next few days will consist of the biggest official visit weekend of the offseason so far for Texas football. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff will host roughly 20 official visitors on campus starting on June 16, with most staying through June 18.

This weekend is highlighted mainly by some of the top out-of-state targets for Sark and the Longhorns staff in the 2024 class. And well over half of the visiting recruits on campus this weekend are rated as blue-chip prospects.

Texas needs to make the most of these official visit weekends as the 2024 class is off to a patient start. This is the planned approach for Sark and the Longhorns staff to wait until later in the summer and the fall to get most of their guys in the mix in the 2024 class.

But this is still a risky game to play. It’s also one where the Longhorns must hit on each of its priority targets in the 2024 class during the summer and fall official visits.

Top priority recruits making official visits to Texas football this weekend

With all of this in mind, here’s a breakdown of four of the biggest official visitors for the Longhorns this weekend.

D’antre Robinson, DL

Literally the biggest defensive lineman visiting Texas officially this weekend is the enormous 6-foot-4 and 315-pound four-star Orlando (FL) Jones product D’antre Robinson. The massive blue-chip defensive lineman out of Florida has some of the top schools in the SEC hot on his trail amid his official visit schedule this month.

Robinson is being recruited by the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, and the Ohio State Buckeyes out of the Big Ten this summer. He’s already made the official trips to see Alabama and Florida this month.

Next will be his official visits to see Texas this weekend and then Georgia next weekend.

Texas is in a good spot with Robinson before the official visit this weekend. He had a successful unofficial trip to Texas where he connected with defensive line coach Bo Davis on campus for the first time during the first Junior Day of the offseason on Jan. 21.

There is a lot of build-up to this official visit for Texas. Robinson told Inside Texas earlier this week (paid content) that “Texas is one of my favorites visits I’ve been to” and that he is “excited to be back” this weekend.

Texas will need to make Robinson feel the love over the next couple of days to make it known that he is one of the top out-of-state priorities at the position in the 2024 class. If Texas can hit it big with Robinson this weekend, it should be in a good spot ahead of a decision that is expected to come from him in the next three or four months.
