Brandon Baker, OT

The top-rated offensive tackle recruit in the nation in the 2024 class, the elite five-star Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei product Brandon Baker, is the highlight of the offensive linemen making the official visit to Texas this weekend.

Baker will be returning to Texas for the first time since he made an unofficial visit to campus for the Orange-White Game on April 15. The elite West Coast offensive tackle recruit really hit it off with offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and some of the Longhorns players during his first trip to Texas a couple of months ago.

Texas is currently duking it out with the Oregon Ducks, USC Trojans, Georgia, and Ohio State this summer in the race to land a commitment from Baker. Texas will get the second crack at making a big impression on Baker on an official visit after Ohio State gave it a swing last weekend.

Next weekend will be his official trip to Georgia. And it’s expected that Oregon and USC will get officials later in the summer or during the fall.

Texas will really have to knock this one out of the park if it wants a shot with Baker heading into the fall. Flood and the Longhorns have made magic happen before with top-priority offensive linemen on the recruiting trail that had ties to the West Coast (i.e. former Oregon commit Kelvin Banks Jr.).

Flood will need to put his best foot forward in this recruitment this weekend to make a huge impression on Baker and his camp.
