Texas Football: Assessing Horns 4 biggest official visitors this weekend
Ryan Wingo, WR
The top-rated wide receiver recruit that will be making the official visit to Texas this weekend is the elite five-star St. Louis University (MO) product, Ryan Wingo. The uber-talented 6-foot-2 and 215-pound Missouri wide receiver has emerged as one of the top targets at the position for Sark, new wide receivers coach Chris Jackson, and the Longhorns in the 2024 class this summer.
Texas made a move in this recruitment during the spring after Wingo had a good unofficial visit to campus for the first Junior Day of the offseason on Jan. 21. Sark, Jackson, and the Longhorns will now be looking to fight off the Mizzou Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Georgia.
He’s already taken official visits to Georgia (June 2) and Michigan (June 9) this month, with one scheduled next weekend to see Mizzou (June 23).
This weekend will be critical for Jackson to be able to connect with Wingo and his camp and really sell him on the idea of his fit in this potent offense under Sark. Jackson also has the selling point of his NFL background and long career as a football coach and pro wide receiver.
Of all the big-time blue-chip recruits on campus this weekend for official visits, I feel like Wingo is the one that Texas could be best positioned to make a huge move. Texas has shown in the last couple of years that it can recruit elite wide receiver talent at a high level under Sark.
The test will now be to see if Jackson can make a big impression on potentially the top out-of-state wide receiver target in the 2024 class in Wingo.
