Deshawn Warner, EDGE

Texas had a couple of out-of-state edge rusher recruits on campus for official visits last weekend. One of the edge prospects on campus over the weekend was three-star Goodyear (AZ) Desert Edge product, Deshawn Warner.

This was Warner’s first visit to Austin of the 2023 offseason for the official trip last weekend. And Texas made a huge impression during Warner’s first time in Austin in 2023.

Warner spent a lot of time this weekend with Longhorns players and coaches, including true freshman wide receiver Johntay Cook II and true freshman edge rusher Billy Walton. It sounds like connecting with the players and coaches was Warner’s best part of the weekend.

We’ve mentioned this on the site already in the last few hours, but if Texas pushes for a commitment from Warner comes his early July decision date, the Longhorns will very likely be the pick.

Myles Davis, S

A key blue-chip official visitor that Texas made a big move with over the weekend is four-star Converse (TX) Judson safety Myles Davis. Texas knocked it out of the park with Davis last weekend, potentially putting itself in a position to hold the lead in this recruitment.

Safeties coach Blake Gideon and the Longhorns did a great job selling Davis on his fit in the secondary and the potential of this secondary.

The attention now turns to Davis’ next official visit to round out his June schedule. Davis will officially visit College Station next weekend to see the Texas A&M Aggies starting June 23. If there is a school that could retake the lead in this recruitment from the Longhorns, it would be the rival Aggies.
