Aeryn Hampton, ATH

Looking at the skill recruits that officially visited Texas last weekend, the highly touted four-star Carthage (TX) athlete Aeryn Hampton likes what he sees from the Longhorns after the last few days. Texas definitely moved the needle with Hampton during his official visit over the weekend.

One of the more interesting developments in this recruitment is that Texas’ staff reportedly is now looking at Hampton as a true athlete prospect. Texas was originally presumed to be evaluating Hampton as a wide receiver.

But with the recent development of Texas nabbing Dubose in the 2024 class, it looks like Hampton’s skill set could be better utilized elsewhere if he does commit to Texas next month. It’s also worth noting that Hampton reportedly has a decision date set for early July.

Despite the 2024 class starting to fill up at the wide receiver position, Hampton still likes what Texas is selling. Texas and Alabama remain the leaders in this recruitment a few weeks before his reported new decision date on July 7.

Jordan Washington, TE

The top tight end recruit in-state for Texas in the 2024 class is the rising three-star Houston (TX) Langham Creek product Jordan Washington. The gifted 6-foot-4 and 215-pound receiving tight end out of Houston is an important recruit on Texas’ big board in the 2024 class after it missed on the touted four-star Laguna Beach (CA) tight end Ryner Swanson, who committed to the BYU Cougars last week.

Texas is the clear leader in this recruitment after special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks and the Longhorns continued to build the relationship with Washington and his camp last weekend during the official visit.
