Texas Football: Predicting Horns next 2024 commit after Freddie Dubose
Melvin Hills, DL
An out-of-state official visitor last weekend that came away from the trip to Austin, giving the Longhorns high marks, is three-star Lafayette Christian Academy (LA) defensive lineman Melvin Hills. The 6-foot-4 and 270-pound Louisiana defensive lineman made his third offseason trip so far over the weekend.
This was his first trip since he made an unofficial visit for the second Junior Day of the offseason on March 25. He also made it to the 40 for the first Junior Day of the offseason on Jan. 21.
Texas continues to make strong impressions on each visit for Hills. The official trip this weekend was no different. Hills connected more with defensive line coach Bo Davis and some of the Longhorns’ defensive players.
Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports reported on June 18 (paid content) that Hills said, “my experience was great” during the official visit last weekend. He also stated that “Texas just keeps getting better” and that the players and coaches are “great”.
Texas is in a great spot in the race to land a commitment from Hills this summer. It’s also worth noting that Davis and the Longhorns view Hills as a take in the 2024 class. If Texas continues to keep its foot on the gas in this recruitment, it should be theirs to lose.
