Texas Football: Predicting Horns next 2024 commit after Freddie Dubose
Deshawn Warner, EDGE
One of the out-of-state edge rusher recruits the Longhorns hosted on an official visit last weekend was three-star Goodyear (AZ) Desert Edge product, Deshawn Warner. The 6-foot-4 and 225-pound Arizona edge recruit has established great communication and a great relationship with co-DC Pete Kwiatkowski since Texas offered in late April.
Warner emerged as one of the out-of-state edge rusher offers to watch during the spring evaluation period for the Longhorns in the 2024 class. His recruitment started to blow up, mainly on the west coast, in the winter and spring this offseason.
He received offers from the Oregon Ducks, Kansas Jayhawks, and Washington Huskies since late January. The offers from the latter two schools mentioned made big impressions on Warner. The Oregon State Beavers are also another top school in this recruitment this summer.
Warner visited Oregon State officially a couple of weeks ago. And he has official visits next week to Washington (June 20) and Kansas (June 23).
Warner could have a spot if Texas takes more than two or three edge rusher recruits in this class. Word on the street is that whether Warner ends up in this class will have come down to how much PK and the Longhorns staff keep their foot on the gas as he wraps up his official visits in the next week.
Some of the other top priority edge rusher recruits for the Longhorns in the 2024 class this summer are four-star Danny Okoye, five-star Colin Simmons, and four-star Zina Umeozulu.
