Unfortunately, one of the highest-priority in-state linebacker recruits for the Longhorns in the 2024 class won’t be officially visiting Texas this week. Almost simultaneous to the news emerging that Mothudi would no longer be making the Texas official visit this week, reports surfaced that the touted four-star Jasper (TX) linebacker Tyanthony Smith would be moving his official visit.

The difference between Smith and Mothudi is that the former of these two linebacker recruits is looking to reschedule the official visit for later in the year. With Texas putting somewhat of a pause on linebacker recruiting, I imagine the staff slows down the process with Smith.

Yet, word on the street is that PK, Choate, and the Longhorns are still going to pursue Smith on the recruiting trail. This makes me think an official visit could be possible in the fall for the blue-chip in-state linebacker recruit.

One of the reasons for Smith not only rescheduling the Texas official visit but also his official trip to Norman this month to see the Oklahoma Sooners looks to be the success of the USC Trojans OV last weekend. It sounds like USC really knocked that official visit out of the park, and the Trojans are now trending to land Smith’s commitment.

It looks like Smith’s decision is set to come around July or August.
