Texas Football: 6 more commitments the Longhorns could land this week
Joshua Lair, S
One of the blue-chip safety recruits that officially visited Texas last weekend is the physically gifted four-star 6-foot-1 and 185-pound Missouri City (TX) Fort Bend Marshall defensive back Joshua Lair.
During the official visit, safeties coach Blake Gideon and the Longhorns made a big impression on Lair last weekend. It sounds like Texas put itself in a great spot with Lair as he rounds out his current round of official visits this summer.
An encouraging sign for the Longhorns in the race to land a commitment from Lair this summer is that he canceled his official visit next weekend to Seattle to see the Washington Huskies. After Lair canceled the UW OV, Texas looks to duke it out with the Baylor Bears, LSU Tigers, and Texas A&M.
Melvin Hills, DL
A defensive line recruit that gave a lot of positive feedback regarding the Texas official visit last weekend is three-star Lafayette Christian Academy (LA) product Melvin Hills. Texas was already in a good spot among Hills’ top schools heading into the official visit weekend.
Defensive line coach Bo Davis and the Longhorns continued building relationships with Hills and his family. And it sounds like he and his family came away from the Texas visit giving it high marks.
Texas can push for a commitment from Hill over the Ole Miss Rebels if Davis and the Longhorns keep their foot on the gas in this recruitment for the rest of the summer.
