For the second consecutive weekend, Texas football will host roughly 20 official visitors on campus from the 2024 recruiting class. Texas landed two commitments last weekend when more than 20 official visitors went to Austin from June 16-18.

The two commitments head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns reeled in last weekend were four-star Scottsdale (AZ) Desert Mountain cornerback Santana Wilson and four-star Spring Branch (TX) Smithson Valley wide receiver Freddie Dubose Jr. Wilson committed to Texas as the first pure cornerback in the class on June 17.

And then, Dubose capped the weekend on a high for Sark and the Longhorns staff by committing on June 18.

Texas could land another group of commitments among the official visitors on campus this weekend (specifically starting June 23). It’s also worth mentioning that some official visitors from the June 16-18 weekend are still on commit watch over the next few weeks.

Now is the time when we will be looking forward to the commits the Longhorns can get in the 2024 class this weekend. Here’s a look at three official visitors this weekend on commitment watch in the 2024 class for the Longhorns.

Daniel Cruz, IOL

The longtime four-star interior offensive line priority out of Richland High School in North Richland Hills, TX, Daniel Cruz, is one of the most wanted official visitors for the Longhorns this weekend. Offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and the Longhorns have long prioritized this recruitment among the top interior offensive linemen, not just in Texas, but among any recruits at the position in the entire country.

Cruz is considered a heavy Texas lean heading into the official visit this weekend. That has remained the case that Cruz had Texas at the top of his list for a long time.

The two schools that were commonly considered those that could push the Longhorns in this recruitment are the Oklahoma Sooners and Ohio State Buckeyes.

Oklahoma tried to chip away at Texas’ lead with Cruz when the blue-chip IOL officially visited Norman on June 16. Cruz gave the OU visit positive marks, but it didn’t seem like it ultimately made a dent in Texas’ lead.

The same could be said for the Ohio State official visit a couple of weeks ago.

Texas will try to shut this recruitment down this weekend to potentially make Cruz the first offensive line commit in the 2024 class.
