1. Ricky Williams (1995-1998)

Career stats: 6,279 rushing yards (6.2 YPC), 72 rushing TDs

By a decent margin, the most productive rusher all-time for the Longhorns is the 1998 Heisman Trophy winner Ricky Williams. The last two seasons of Williams’ collegiate career were insanely impressive. He put up more than 2,000 total yards from scrimmage and at least 25 total touchdowns in 1997 and 1998.

Williams’ 1998 campaign is still one of the great seasons in the last few decades by a running back in college football. He raked in over 2,100 rushing yards and nearly 2,400 total yards from scrimmage, along with 27 rushing touchdowns and one touchdown catch.

Only 17 players in college football history have rushed for more than 2,100 yards in a single season. Williams is the only Texas running back ever to do so.

In this day and age of college football, it’s hard to envision someone doing what Williams did for the Longhorns in the late 1990s. He had two consecutive top-five finishes in the Heisman Trophy voting while having immensely productive campaigns without injuries limiting him.
