2. Cedric Benson (2001-2004)

Career stats: 5,540 rushing yards (5.0 YPC), 64 rushing TDs

The late and great Cedric Benson was not just one of the best running backs to ever do it for the Longhorns but one of the best players at any position in the last few decades to don the Burnt Orange. Benson was a stud each season he played at Texas.

To this day, Benson is still the only Longhorn to rush for more than 1,000 yards in four seasons. From the start of his collegiate career, he was a stud in Texas’ backfield, registering more than 1,200 yards from scrimmage and 13 total touchdowns in 2001.

Benson’s best season of his collegiate career came in 2004 when he rushed for more than 1,800 yards and posted 20 total touchdowns. He also crossed the 2,000 total-yard mark for the first time in his collegiate career during his senior campaign, culminating in a sixth-place finish in the Heisman voting that season.
