Another top defensive back priority recruit on a Texas official visit this weekend is the highly touted four-star Lancaster (TX) product, Corian Gipson. The 6-foot and 170-pound safety/defensive back recruit out of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex was recently considered a Clemson Tigers lean.

But Gipson made it out of the Clemson official visit on the weekend of June 9 uncommitted. That was a good sign for the Longhorns’ chances in this recruitment at the time.

Texas now has a chance to take its swing a closing on a commitment from Gipson during his official visit to Austin this weekend. And from everything we’ve heard in the last few days regarding Gipson’s status, it sounds like a commitment to Texas is certainly possible over the next few days to a week.

There is a lot of confidence on the Texas side right now that it is favored to land Gipson’s commitment this summer over Clemson. This will be a big test this weekend for safeties coach Blake Gideon, Joseph, and Pete Kwiatkowski to be able to close the deal with Gipson coming out of his official visit.

Gipson is one of nearly a half-dozen blue-chip defensive back recruits from the 2024 class the Longhorns are hosting on official visits this weekend. He and Black look to be two of the top priority in-state defensive back recruits among those on campus this weekend, though.
