Jordan Washington, TE

Commitment Date: July 4

There is a lot of anticipation regarding the looming decision of the top tight end priority in the Longhorns 2024 class in the next couple of weeks. Three-star Houston (TX) Langham Creek tight end Jordan Washington is the top target at the position in the 2024 class for special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jeff Banks and the Longhorns this summer.

Washington is set for a July 4 decision that will boil down to the Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas A&M Aggies, and Texas. But this will ultimately be a Longhorns and Aggies battle as the July 4 holiday decision approaches for Washington.

Texas is expected to be the heavy favorite to land Washington’s commitment. Banks and the Longhorns knocked it out of the park during Washington’s official visit to Texas a couple of weekends ago (specifically from June 16-18).

But Texas A&M is making a late push in this recruitment after Washington enjoyed his official visit on the weekend of June 2. Even GigEm247 reported over the weekend (paid content) that the Longhorns “have the momentum” in the race to land a commitment from Washington ahead of the July 4 decision.

I won’t say that a commitment from Washington is a slam dunk for the Longhorns. There is still a possibility that Texas A&M makes a big late push in this recruitment.

For now, though, I’ll give the Longhorns a 75 percent chance to get Washington in this class on July 4.
