Aeryn Hampton, WR

Commitment Date: July 7

A longtime Texas recruit that could wind up recommitting to the Longhorns’ 2024 class shortly is the talented four-star Daingerfield (TX) athlete/wide receiver Aeryn Hampton. The touted blue-chip athlete out of east Texas has the Longhorns back in the running to land his commitment after a successful official visit on the weekend of June 16.

Hampton was one of the first recruits to originally commit to the Longhorns 2024 class in February 2022. But he re-opened his recruitment last fall after pushes from Alabama, Texas A&M, the LSU Tigers, and a few other schools.

After a recruitment that seemingly has plenty of twists and turns weekly in the last six months, it feels like we’re back where we started. Hampton is down to Texas and one other school, Alabama.

Alabama is recruiting Hampton as a wide receiver, while the Longhorns are now looking at him as a true athlete.

This recruitment will ultimately boil down to the school between Texas and Alabama that pushes the hardest to get Hampton in their class in the next couple of weeks. I would give Texas the slight edge to land Hampton’s commitment, but there is still plenty of time for that to change before July 7.
