Kobe Black, CB

The top in-state defensive back priority for the Longhorns in the 2024 class, five-star Waco (TX) Connally cornerback Kobe Black, just finished up a fantastic official visit to Austin over the weekend. Black had one of the best experiences of any of the defensive recruits in the 2024 class that officially visited Texas in the last few days.

Texas went into Black’s official visit last weekend in pole position in this recruitment. Nothing we’ve heard coming out of the official visit does anything to contradict that.

To further confirm Texas’ position in this recruitment following the official visit, Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports reported on June 25 that the Longhorns are still “operating in pole position”.

Texas made a positive impression on Black last weekend, as it has done in the last three visits the elite central Texas cornerback recruit made to the 40 since late last fall. Cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph and the Longhorns will now have to hold off any pushes from competing programs on the recruiting trail in the next month or so as Black moves closer to a decision.

In a loaded defensive back class in-state for this cycle, Black knows he is the highest priority for the Longhorns staff. It wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if the top-ranked cornerback recruit in Texas in the 2024 class is the second prospect at the position to commit to the Longhorns after four-star Scottsdale (AZ) Desert Mountain CB Santana Wilson pledged two weeks ago.
