Texas Football: 4 blue-chip recruits trending to Longhorns in July
Zina Umeozulu, EDGE
It seems like the crystal ball predictions/forecasts keep pouring in for blue-chip in-state targets of the Longhorns 2024 class this week. A rather surprising forecast that went in the Longhorns’ favor this week for a blue-chip in-state target in the 2024 class is the highly touted four-star Allen edge rusher Zina Umeozulu.
The younger brother of rising sophomore Texas offensive lineman and former four-star recruit Neto Umeozulu has started to trend to the Longhorns after the Oklahoma Sooners made a big push during his official visit to Norman earlier this month.
Texas squashed the momentum Oklahoma built in this recruitment when Umeozulu made the official trip to Austin last weekend.
While Umeozulu has visited Texas about as many times as any other recruit in the 2024 class, it seems like the Longhorns have ramped up their efforts with the blue-chip edge rusher this summer. Umeozulu is clearly a priority for Pete Kwiatkowski and the Longhorns among the top in-state edge rusher recruits in the 2024 class.

If Texas wasn’t setting its sights on Umeozulu this summer, I don’t think Inside Texas/On3’s Gerry Hamilton would enter an RPM pick projecting his commitment to the Longhorns with a 7.5 out of 10 confidence level this week.
