Texas Football: 3 upperclassmen standing out in summer workouts
Trill Carter, DL
Among the most impressive summer enrollees in workouts thus far is the former Minnesota Golden Gophers senior transfer defensive lineman Trill Carter.
Carter’s name has now come up multiples times in reports and general conversation surrounding the new additions to the program that are standing out this summer.
Bobby Burton of Inside Texas mentioned on the YouTube show “State of their Program” on the On Texas Football channel this week that Carter has really stood out in summer workouts thus far. He took the bull by the horns and made a big splash with his arrival on campus for the start of summer workouts.
It sounds like Carter is a guy that just won’t be outdone in the weight room by any of his contemporaries. He’s also looking better than advertised on the practice field and in the conditioning program in the last few weeks.
Carter is going to be a multi-year contributor at Texas. And Carter knows that he could be fighting for more reps in the defensive line rotation for defensive line coach Bo Davis and the Longhorns this fall. Regardless, Carter will get healthy number of live-game reps along the defensive line this season, likely at least 15 or 20 per game.
