It’s no surprise that the wide receivers are looking the part so far in 7v7 work and other team drills this summer. Spearheaded by the likes of juniors Xavier Worthy and AD Mitchell, the wide receiver room could be true deepest and most talented of any position group for the Longhorns in 2023.

Eric Nahlin of Inside Texas reported (paid content) that Mitchell is one of the first names that was mentioned making the best Longhorns players so far in 7v7 this summer. It’s also worth noting that Mitchell is still being mentioned among the “five best players” for the Longhorns heading into fall camp.

Mitchell was one of the late spring standouts on offense for the Longhorns. There is nothing we’ve heard in the last couple of months contradicting the upward trajectory Mitchell is on since late March and April in spring camp.

Next. 3 commitments Texas can get this weekend. dark

Each of Texas’ projected starters at wideout this fall have made positive strides so far this summer. Mitchell, Worthy, and redshirt senior Jordan Whittington are all putting on for the younger wideouts on campus this summer.

Mitchell, in particular, has truly arrived as advertised from the transfer portal this offseason.
