The summer saw Texas football catch fire on the recruiting trail in the 2024 class. Since the start of official visit season last month, Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian have quintupled the size of the 2024 recruiting class.

It all started on June 16, when Sark and the Longhorns staff landed a commitment from the underrated four-star Scottsdale (AZ) Desert Mountain cornerback Santana Wilson. Texas hasn’t let off the gas since landing Wilson.

Since June 16, the Longhorns landed a whopping nine more commitments in the 2024 class. Of those nine commitments since June 16 in the Longhorns 2024 class, all but one are blue-chips according to at least one of the major recruiting services.

In that group of commitments in the last few weeks are elite recruits such as high-four-star IMG Academy running back Jerrick Gibson and top-150 four-star IMG Academy safety Jordon Johnson-Rubell.

Elite 2024 recruits Texas football can nab in July

We don’t expect the momentum to slow on the recruiting trail at any point soon, either. Here’s a look at three elite recruits the Longhorns could land from here on out in the 2024 class in July.

Kobe Black, CB

Texas continues to hold the pole position in the race to land a commitment from the elite five-star Waco (TX) Connally cornerback Kobe Black. The top-ranked cornerback recruit in the state of Texas in the 2024 class is one of the top priorities of any prospect in this cycle for the Longhorns.

Not much has changed with Black since we discussed where Texas stood in this recruitment late last month. Texas and cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph hit a home run during Black’s official visit to Austin a couple of weeks ago.

And now that we’re in the midst of the dead period, it still appears that Texas holds a pretty commanding lead in the race to land a commitment from Black. Until further notice, we’ll continue to have Black on commitment watch for the Longhorns.
