Texas football vs. ACC

The ACC is the conference with the most big-time football programs the Longhorns have yet to face. The fact that the Longhorns haven’t faced the Clemson Tigers or the Florida State Seminoles in football is hard to believe, especially given the tough out-of-conference opponents Texas scheduled the last decade or so.

Clemson Tigers

Most college football fans would love to see Clemson and Texas face each other on the gridiron. A future postseason matchup isn’t out of the question.

Duke Blue Devils

The smaller program in the ACC that the Longhorns haven’t met on the gridiron is the Duke Blue Devils. Texas-Duke would probably make for a more interesting matchup in basketball, though.

Florida State Seminoles

A really interesting matchup for Texas among ACC foes would be Florida State. Texas-Florida State is a viable postseason matchup in the near future, given the upward trajectory of both football programs.

The problem that Texas would hypothetically run into trying to schedule big-time out-of-conference games in football against Clemson and/or Florida State would be the strength of schedule. With the Longhorns joining the SEC next year, the strength of schedule for the foreseeable future will be extremely difficult.
