Texas football vs. Big Ten

Of the 14 member schools in the Big Ten, there are only two that the Longhorns haven’t faced in the football program’s history. Texas has faced the big blue blood programs in the Big Ten, such as the Ohio State Buckeyes, Michigan Wolverines, and Penn State Nittany Lions.

Texas also has home-and-home series scheduled in the mid-to-late 2020s against Michigan and Ohio State.

Michigan State Spartans

The biggest of the two programs the Longhorns have yet to face in the Big Ten is the Michigan State Spartans. Michigan State-Texas is a non-conference game I could see scheduled in the next couple of decades, though, given that it would be an intriguing matchup that probably wouldn’t be overly difficult for the Longhorns.

Illinois Fighting Illini

Despite a football program dating back to 1892, the Illinois Fighting Illini have yet to meet the Longhorns on the gridiron. Granted, Ilinois has only faced half of the current member schools in the Big 12 in football.

Since the Big Ten and SEC are the two most prominent conferences in college football heading into the future, we’re probably going to see Texas play plenty of member schools from the Big Ten. And if Texas can reach the expanded College Football Playoff multiple times in the late 2020s, it’s definitely not out of the question that the Longhorns will face this conference more than once each year.
