Another big-time target of the 2024 Texas football recruiting class is set to make his decision. The highly touted four-star Temple (TX) Lake Belton cornerback priority Selman Bridges announced on Twitter on July 9 that he will be deciding on July 14.

Bridges was a priority in-state defensive back target for the Longhorns in the 2024 class throughout the offseason. The sizable 6-foot-4 and 170-pound CenTex defensive back recruit visited Texas twice since the spring, including an official trip from June 23-25.

This summer, he also officially visited the Arkansas Razorbacks (June 16) and TCU Horned Frogs (June 8).

Texas made the cut in Bridges’ top nine, which he announced on social media on May 11. TCU and Arkansas were also in that group of top nine schools for Bridges that he announced a couple of months ago.

Texas and Arkansas likely to be the two schools Bridges chooses between

While TCU was one of the three schools that received an official visit this summer from Bridges, this will likely be a two-team battle to land his commitment between Texas and Arkansas.

Texas was once considered the favorite in this recruitment, but Arkansas made a big move during Bridges’ official visit to Fayetteville last month. Texas still has a chance to land Bridges’ commitment on July 14, but Arkansas certainly has the momentum of late.

Inside Texas reported on July 9 that they expect Arkansas to be the pick over the Longhorns when Bridges announces on July 14. It sounds like Arkansas has made Bridges a top priority this summer, which made a big impression on Bridges and his camp.

Texas has prioritized some other top in-state defensive back recruits in the 2024 class this summer. Cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph and safeties coach Blake Gideon have made the likes of four-star Lancaster (TX) safety Corian Gipson, five-star Waco (TX) Connally cornerback Kobe Black, and four-star Marrero (LA) John Ehret cornerback Wardell Mack top priorities at defensive back in the 2024 class in the last couple of months.

The Longhorns also hold commitments from the touted four-star IMG Academy safety Jordon Johnson-Rubell and four-star Scottsdale (AZ) Desert Mountain cornerback Santana Wilson in the 2024 class.
