Texas football is on a roll on the recruiting trail for the 2024 cycle this summer. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff have landed double-digit commitments in the last few weeks alone. And more action is on the horizon for Texas on the recruiting trail in the 2024 class in the next couple of weeks.

Sark and the Longhorns staff have a few important commitment dates to watch in mid-to-late July, starting as soon as July 12.

With Texas currently sitting at 13 commitments in the 2024 class, it is realistic to expect that well over half of the scholarship spots for this cycle will be filled by the end of the month. There are already roughly a half-dozen important commitment dates for the rest of July involving key Longhorns’ targets on the recruiting trail.

Texas likes to have most of the recruiting class finished by the time the season starts. While that doesn’t mean the staff won’t grind during the fall evaluation period, it ensures all but a handful of spots remain in the class.

Every commitment Texas football could get in the 2024 class for the remainder of July

With all this in mind, here’s a prediction of each remaining commitment the Longhorns can land in July.

Melvin Hills, DL

Decision date: July 12

The next big decision date to watch for a key out-of-state defensive line priority for the Longhorns in the 2024 class is July 12, when the underrated three-star Lafayette Christian Academy (LA) defensive lineman Melvin Hills announces. Hills is deciding between Texas and the Ole Miss Rebels, with the LSU Tigers trailing behind those schools.

Texas held the pole position in this recruitment since Hills officially visited Texas on the weekend of June 16. Defensive line coach Bo Davis and the Longhorns made a big impression on Hills during his official last month, which helped them overtake Ole Miss among his top schools this summer.

Hills is clearly a take among the three-tech defensive linemen Davis and the Longhorns are looking at in the 2024 class. We expect him to be the next to commit to the Longhorns 2024 class on July 12, barring some late swing in this recruitment.
