Texas Football: 5 biggest flips in Longhorns recruiting history
Mike Davis, WR
Flipped from LSU in the 2009 class
The furthest we’re going back on this list is the standout former Texas wide receiver and ex-five-star recruit out of Dallas Skyline High School, Mike Davis. Texas flipped Davis from the LSU Tigers late in the 2010 recruiting cycle, which wasn’t common at the time.
In the fall of 2009, Texas flipped Davis from LSU after he had a successful trip to Austin for a game at DKR.
"“The visit was straight,” Davis said. “There wasn’t anything major that stood out, but I just liked the players and stuff. I liked hanging out with the players the most. Texas is in-state, closer to home, closer to my momma, the academics are great, I like the chow down there, and I know I’m going to be taken care of down there.”"
Davis was highly sought after in the 2010 class as the top-ranked wide receiver recruit in the nation. His late addition to the class secured Texas’ spot as the nation’s No. 2 2010 recruiting class.
He lived up to the lofty recruiting ranking with a stellar career in four years on the Forty Acres. Davis reeled in 200 catches for more than 2,700 receiving yards and 18 receiving touchdowns during his four seasons at Texas.
Davis finished his career fourth all-time in receiving yards at Texas and sixth in receiving touchdowns.
