Competition is far from done along the interior offensive line

Texas returns all five starters along the offensive line in 2023. Offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and the Longhorns also bring back multiple other talented offensive linemen, namely from that talented 2022 OL recruiting class, that will be pushing for spots on the two-deep in fall camp.

When talking to ESPN and individual reporters, Sark mentioned multiple times that he expects competition along the offensive line during fall camp. He used the usual talking line by saying that the “best” players will earn their starting spots on the team this fall.

But the fact that we heard Sark explicitly talking about the younger players competing along the offensive line gave the sentiment that the starting five in the trenches is far from settled. It sounds like Sark’s thoughts confirm the expectations that the Longhorns are still finding the best group of five along the offensive line heading into fall camp.

The five starters that Texas returns along the offensive line are sophomore left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr., junior left guard Hayden Conner, senior center Jake Majors, sophomore right guard Cole Hutson, and redshirt senior right tackle Christian Jones. Sophomore DJ Campbell also took significant reps late in the season at right guard when Hutson missed some time due to injury.
