Texas football has played, but never beaten these FBS teams
Texas football vs. SEC
The Longhorns have found an overwhelming amount of success against the current teams from the SEC. Texas holds an all-time record of 191-94-9 against the current SEC schools. That includes winning records against blue-blood programs such as the Alabama Crimson Tide, Tennessee Volunteers, LSU Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Auburn Tigers, and Florida Gators.
Weirdly enough, the only programs Texas doesn’t have a winning record against in the current SEC are three of the least successful. The South Carolina Gamecocks, Mississippi State Bulldogs, and Vanderbilt are all undefeated or even with the Longhorns.
It will be interesting to see how the Longhorns’ fortunes shift against these SEC schools when it joins the conference in 2024.
South Carolina (0-1-0)
The only time Texas and South Carolina met on the gridiron came during the 1957 season. No. 20 Texas hosted unranked South Carolina in Austin in Week 3 of the 1957 campaign. South Carolina was actually in the ACC then.
Texas suffered its first loss of the season against South Carolina in a close six-score defeat at home.
The 1957 season wound up being a weird one for the Longhorns. Despite finishing 11th in the AP Poll, Texas still fell short of a five-win South Carolina squad at home. Texas also lost to an unranked SMU Mustangs squad and a tie at home against the unranked Baylor Bears.
Meanwhile, Texas came up with ranked road wins in rivalry games over the No. 10 Arkansas Razorbacks and No. 4 Texas A&M Aggies. Texas also beat the No. 17 TCU Horned Frogs and No. 13 Rice Owls at home.
