Once the dead period for in-person visits lifts in late July, Texas football recruiting will get back to work, hosting key targets from the 2024 and 2025 classes. One of the most recent late-July visits Texas added to the docket involves an elite running back recruit from the 2025 class.
On3’s Chad Simmons reported on July 12 that Texas will host the nation’s top-rated running back recruit in the 2025 class (in the updated 247Sports Composite), five-star Mater Dei (CA) product Jordon Davison, for an unofficial visit on July 25.
Davison will visit Austin unofficially on July 25 and then travel north of the Red River to Norman to see the Oklahoma Sooners on July 26. The Texas and Oklahoma visits will close out the July trip schedule for Davison on the recruiting trail.
This will be Davison’s fourth unofficial visit to Texas when he makes the unofficial trip on July 25. He will make it back to the 40 for the first time since the first Junior Day of the offseason on Jan. 21. Davison also visited Texas twice last offseason, with his first trip to Austin coming last spring.

Texas football making No. 1 2025 RB Jordon Davison a top priority early in the cycle
Davison has great relationships with head coach Steve Sarkisian and running backs coach Tashard Choice. He’s stayed in constant communication with Choice and even Sark throughout the offseason.
"“My connection with the (Texas) staff grows everyday.”"

It says a lot about how much the Longhorns prioritize a recruit at the skill positions when Sark and Choice identify them as a top target this early in a cycle. Davison is getting the priority treatment similar to what Choice and the Longhorns gave former No. 1 rated running back recruits CJ Baxter Jr. (2023 Texas commit) and Jerrick Gibson (2024 Texas commit).
"“I have a great relationship with Coach Sark off the field away from football, I currently attend the same school as (Sark’s) daughter. Coach Sark is a great person to sit down with and talk because he’s always teaching.”"

Texas checks a lot of boxes for Davison
Davison told 247Sports this summer that “development” and “a stable coaching staff” are two significant factors in his recruitment. He also wants to play for “a winning program” where he “can compete for a title”.
Sark has the Longhorns trending up upon the move to leave the Big 12 for the SEC in 2024. If Texas can compete for a Big 12 title this fall, that will give it momentum heading into the SEC next year.
It also goes a long way to build trust with prospective recruits when Sark and Choice can sell the continuity of the coaching staff on the Forty Acres.
Davison is one of the top priorities at the running back position for Sark, Choice, and the Longhorns in the 2025 class early in the cycle. Texas also hosted the No. 2 running back recruit in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite, high four-star Metairie (LA) St. Martin’s Episcopal School product Harlem Berry, on a visit during the spring.
