The dead period for in-person visits will lift in a couple of weeks, and Texas football recruiting can get back to work on the trail. Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian usually take full advantage of the opportunity to host in-person campus visitors again in late July before fall camp begins.

That will be the case again this summer, as the Longhorns are building an impressive visitor list among key targets and commitments from the 2024 and 2025 recruiting classes. Texas has already booked unofficial visits with over a half-dozen recruits from the 2024 and 2025 classes.

And we’re expecting at least a dozen blue-chip recruits to make it to campus for the late-July BBQ weekend, which is set to begin on July 28. But some visiting recruits will make it to campus for unofficial trips as early as July 25, just after the end of the dead period (which began on June 27).

David Sanders Jr. and the elite 2025 recruits Texas football will host in late July

Here’s a look at three elite 2025 recruits visiting the Longhorns after the dead period lifts on July 24.

David Sanders Jr., OT

Texas and offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood moved quickly to get the elite five-star Charlotte (NC) Providence Day School offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. booked for a visit to Austin after offering him on June 26. Inside Texas reported last week (paid content) that Sanders is expected to visit Texas around the time of the July BBQ (between July 27 and 29).

This will be the first time the nation’s No. 1 rated offensive tackle recruit in the 2025 class visits Texas.

The No. 2 prospect in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite has already visited the Clemson Tigers, North Carolina Tar Heels, Georgia Bulldogs, South Carolina Gamecocks, NC State Wolfpack, and Alabama Crimson Tide, multiple times since last summer. Sanders also made unofficial trips last month to see the Tennessee Volunteers, USC Trojans, and Alabama.

Sanders will have about every Power Five program in the nation pursuing him on the recruiting trail for the next year and a half. So, this visit will be important for Texas to set a strong first impression when Sanders visits in late July.

This recruitment is still in its early stages, so Flood and the Longhorns have time to make up ground with the presumed early frontrunners, such as Alabama, Clemson, and Georgia.
