Jordon Davison, RB

Texas and running backs coach Tashard Choice have two clear-cut top RB priorities in the 2025 class. Those are the No. 1 ranked running back recruit in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite, high-four-star Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei product Jordon Davison, and speedy four-star Metairie (LA) St. Martin’s Episcopal School product Harlem Berry.

But if recent trends indicate the pecking order of the top-priority running back recruits in the 2025 class early on for Choice and the Longhorns, Davison could be emerging as the top target. Davison visited Texas multiple times this offseason, most recently on the weekend of the Elite Camp on June 3. He also visited for the first Junior Day of the offseason on Jan. 21.

Davison will be creeping up on a half-dozen unofficial visits to Texas since last summer when he makes a return trip once the dead period lifts next week. He is visiting Texas next week along with his Mater Dei teammate and high-four-star wide receiver Marcus Harris.

Moreover, Choice and Sark both have fantastic relationships with Davison. We mentioned some of what Davison had to say about Sark ahead of when he scheduled the late-July unofficial visit to Texas.

"“I have a great relationship with Coach Sark off the field away from football, I currently attend the same school as (Sark’s) daughter. Coach Sark is a great person to sit down with and talk because he’s always teaching.”"

Choice’s track record of recruiting top out-of-state talent at the running back position in recent cycles, along with Sark and the rest of the Longhorns staff’s connections at Mater Dei have elevated Texas’ confidence in this recruitment early in the cycle.

On3/Inside Texas’ Justin Wells entered an RPM pick on July 18 (6.5 out of 10 confidence), projecting Davison’s commitment to Texas. Wells’ RPM pick is the second from an On3 reporter/analyst projecting Davison’s commitment to Texas. The first came in early April when On3 director of recruiting Chad Simmons entered an RPM pick with moderate confidence.
