Texas Football: 3 very underrated Longhorns 2024 commits
Christian Clark, RB
Recruiting ranking: No. 283, No. 23
The touted and versatile four-star Phoenix (AZ) Mountain Pointe running back Christian Clark is one of two backs committed to the Longhorns 2024 class. High-four-star IMG Academy running back Jerrick Gibson is the other rusher committed to the Longhorns 2024 class along with Clark.
Running backs coach Tashard Choice and the Longhorns valued versatile and skilled out-of-state backs again in this class, hitting 100 percent on his top priorities with Clark and Gibson in this cycle.
While Clark is the lowest-rated of the two 2024 Texas running back commits, he is the most versatile. The big and strong 6-foot and 195-pound Arizona running back has good field vision, solid straight-line speed, great agility, and is a good receiver out of the backfield.
I would also be remiss if I didn’t mention Clark’s ability as a blocker. Clark is a high-effort blocker in the open field that is also assignment-sound as a pass blocker in the backfield.
Clark is one of this class’s most agile and elusive running backs. Don’t let his frame fool you; Clark’s agility and change of direction are elite. He can utilize his vision, patience, and cutting ability to let running lanes develop and shoot the gap for big gains.
All in all, Clark’s film shows a back with that elusive one-cut ability that reminds you of Bijan Robinson’s high school tape and the type of versatility and lower-body power akin to Roschon Johnson in college.
It’s hard to imagine that when this cycle finishes, Clark will be rated outside of the top 100 or 150 prospects in the nation in this class by most of the major recruiting services. There’s just no way that 20 or 25 backs in this class are more versatile, explosive, and agile than Clark.
