In the last couple of months, Texas football has caught fire on the recruiting trail, with head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff reeling in a dozen commitments in the 2024 class since the start of official visit season. Since June 17, Texas’ 2024 recruiting class has exploded in size, getting up to 14 commitments after adding three-star Lafayette Christian Academy (LA) defensive lineman Melvin Hills on July 12.

More additions to the Longhorns 2024 class could be coming soon, with some highly anticipated decisions this week. Texas will see two key blue-chip priority recruits in the 2024 class make their decisions this week in the gigantic four-star Orlando (FL) Jones defensive lineman D’antre Robinson (July 20) and the highly touted four-star Lancaster (TX) defensive back Corian Gipson (July 22).

Texas is looking to have most of the 2024 class in place by the start of the season. That would mean getting a few more commitments in the class in the next few weeks before most of their priority recruiting targets report for their senior high school football seasons.

2024 recruits Texas football must sign

With that in mind, here are 10 recruits in the 2024 class the Longhorns must sign.

Corian Gipson, S

The aforementioned priority defensive back recruit, Gipson, is announcing his decision on July 22. Texas has made Gipson a top priority among in-state defensive backs in the 2024 class throughout the offseason. He is considered a Texas lean over the Clemson Tigers and Ohio State Buckeyes heading into his July 22 decision date.

Kobe Black, CB

There is no bigger cornerback target for the Longhorns in the 2024 class than the elite five-star Waco (TX) Connally product Kobe Black. The No. 1 ranked cornerback recruit out of Texas in the 2024 class has a great relationship with Texas CB coach Terry Joseph.

The pitch of immediate playing time with redshirt junior boundary corner Ryan Watts likely headed to the NFL Draft next offseason appeals to Black. Texas would like to lock down this recruitment by the summer’s end.

The Texas A&M Aggies, LSU Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Oklahoma Sooners, and Ohio State, among others, are still trying to chip away at Texas’ lead in this recruitment heading into the fall.
