KJ Lacey, QB

Texas’ lone commitment in the 2025 class thus far is the highly touted four-star Saraland (AL) quarterback KJ Lacey. Sark, quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee, and the Longhorns landed Lacey’s commitment abruptly amid the Elite Camp in early June.

Lacey is already helping Texas recruit other top skill position recruits in the 2025 class to the Forty Acres. That is partly why Lacey’s unofficial visit to Texas this week for the pool party/BBQ is so important.

He’ll connect with many of the top blue-chips in the 2025 and 2026 classes on campus this week in person for the first time. That should be a big draw for the Longhorns to have one of the top-rated quarterbacks in the 2025 class helping them recruit an abundance of talented offensive blue-chips on campus this week.

It will be important for Texas to have Lacey on campus as much as possible in the next 12 or 18 months. He can form these relationships with the other top national recruits in the 2025 class early in the cycle.

While it’s not the same draw that the Longhorns had with Arch Manning in the 2023 class, Lacey is one of the top quarterback talents in his class. Blue-chip wideouts, running backs, and offensive linemen will find playing at Texas with Lacey very attractive.
