The top-ranked running back recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking, Mater Dei high-four-star Jordon Davison, are at the top of the board at the position for the Longhorns early in this cycle. Running backs coach Tashard Choice and the Longhorns are making Davison and Louisiana high-four-star speedster Harlem Berry their top priorities at running back in the 2025 class.

This will be Davison’s fourth time unofficially visiting Texas since last spring. It will also be his second time on the 40 this offseason. The first time he visited Texas this offseason was on the first Junior Day on Jan. 21.

After this week’s trip, Davison will have visited Texas more than any other school in 2023.

Texas is already one of the top schools early in Davison’s recruitment. Davison has a great relationship with Choice, who identified him early on as one of Texas’ top RB targets in the 2025 class when he was offered after camping on the 40 last year.

If Choice and the Longhorns keep their foot on the gas in this recruitment in the coming months, it’s hard not to like their chances with Davison. Choice’s track record with out-of-state running back recruiting in the last few cycles speaks for itself with top commits such as IMG high-four-star Jerrick Gibson and No. 1 2023 RB CJ Baxter Jr.

Other top schools competing with the Longhorns for Davison early in the cycle are the Ohio State Buckeyes, USC Trojans, and Oregon Ducks. The Oklahoma Sooners are also pushing in this recruitment. Davison will visit Oklahoma the day after his Texas trip, on July 26.
